migVisor is a state-of-the-art SaaS cloud solution that helps you determine how easy or difficult it is to migrate a database to the cloud. With migVisor cloud-native technologies, you can assess migration complexities and risks, accelerate database cloud migrations, and reduce migration costs.

migVisor provides cross-platform collection options, and a web-based console to explore and understand migration complexities.

migVisor Metadata Collector (mMC) scans your source databases and application code. The metadata and metrics are then assembled and prepared for upload into migVisor Web Console (mConsole). mConsole displays and ranks features and findings from the scans, providing rich visualizations, insights, and complexity scores for the database and application migration and modernization.

migVisor’s Assessment Process

migVisor enables and accelerates database migration assessments. Throughout key phases of the assessment process, migVisor automates and exposes the relevant actionable information you need. The three pillars of the source migration assessment are:

Scan your current databases and applications to collect configuration, schema, and proprietary database features, application code modernization and current data layer handling.

Unlock insights and recommendations for your database migration process, including complexities associated with modernizing the applications and adapting them to the migrated database.

Identify ideal migration paths for adopting cloud database technologies.

How We Do It

migVisor collects information using Metadata Collector (mMC). mMC runs in your environment to scan your data sources and applications.

migVisor analyzes and displays scan results via cloud-based migVisor Web Console (mConsole).

Using mConsole tools, you can dive deeply into the specific details of your organization’s databases and related applications, helping understand and minimize migration-related costs.

mConsole tools help you:

  • Discover and document current database hosting, configuration, topology, sizing, feature use, metrics, and resource usage.

  • Flag specific findings that indicate complexity or effort for migration purposes.

  • Analyze migration complexity for in-kind target sources (symmetric migration).

  • Identify and rank target sources candidates.

  • Perform pair-wise analysis of migration complexity to specific future sources (asymmetric migration).

  • Customize migration assessment by including or excluding certain features to learn more about what affects the migration complexity.

  • Set analysis goals to favor cost reduction in the long term (post-migration) or for the migration effort itself (during migration).

  • Estimate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for target sources.

  • Discover and document the application usage of your databases.

  • Analyze complexities associated with modernizing applications related to specific source databases.

  • Analyze complexities associated with changing application code associated with the migration of the databases these applications are using.

  • Understand the landscape of data stores and applications as a whole across your organization.
